Hi there! I’m Elke.
Let me tell you a bit about my story.
I’ve always loved being behind the camera—observing, anticipating, and capturing the small, meaningful details that make up a life. I’m drawn to natural light, rich color, and the in-between moments that often become the most treasured photographs.
With over 20 years of experience, I photograph families, children, and couples, as well as performances, events, and milestone celebrations. I have photographed Olympians, senior executives at leading Silicon Valley companies, former U.S. Vice Presidents, and internationally recognized experts.
I studied Diplomacy and World Affairs at Occidental College, where I served as Photography Lead for the yearbook, and later earned my MSc in Digital Media Production in Oxford, England.
Before moving to New York City, I spent six years documenting daily life at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, and most recently worked at The Spence School. After nearly a decade within two of the country’s leading independent schools, I have a deep understanding of environments where trust, discretion, and attention to detail matter.
I bring that same care to every family I work with. My approach is calm and unobtrusive, allowing moments to unfold naturally while offering thoughtful guidance when needed. Being invited into my clients’ homes and entrusted with their most personal moments is a privilege I hold with great care. The result is a collection of images that feel genuine, refined, and lasting.
When my clients see themselves and their families reflected in a way that feels both natural and beautiful, I know the work is complete.
I’m based in New York City and frequently travel to the San Francisco Bay Area. Having lived in four countries, I am always open to traveling wherever my work is needed.
Warmly,
Elke (“The Camera Lady”)

My Photography Philosophy
Photography is a connector, enabling us to more deeply understand our dynamic world and multiple cultures. Growing up bicultural and bilingual in Spanish, photography has always served for me as a bridge that simultaneously celebrates the differences and acknowledges the similarities among us. The stories contained in each photo have the capacity to evoke an emotional response in everyone, regardless of which language we speak, where we come from, or how we spend our lives. This is one reason why I love photography: visual communication unites us, rather than divides us.
